Benefits of Incorporating E-Sports in the Life of Students
Updated: May 10
Sports have always been seen as a way of keeping the body in a healthy and fit state, but with the rapid advancement of technology, there is much more to that. Today, sports are essential to the overall growth and development of students. Playing a variety of sports allows students to develop life skills such as confidence, teamwork, leadership, accountability, perseverance, and prepares one for the obstacles of life.
For today’s article, the focus will be on four benefits of engaging Esports in the lives of students.
Prevention of Diseases
Esports are a great way of avoiding both communicable and non-communicable diseases. The face-to-face- interaction between students becomes less as they are behind screens. Therefore, this lessens the chance of them becoming affected by a possible virus or bacteria.
For students who may partake in online games independently, this may be a bit isolating. However, with Esports, these students can come together as one to build a network. Students are able to socialize more with their peers as well as build relationships with other individuals online.
As we know, students use their brains 24/7 just as anyone else. However, there is more being done by the brain of a student as they often have to think critically within the classroom. They also have to study constantly in order to retain information for their upcoming exams. This can have a toll on them and cause significant stress. Based on research, people who partake in Esports are more likely to experience a high level of happiness which further supports the mental health of these students.
Boosts Graduation Rates
Students who engage in extracurricular activities such as Esports or even school clubs tend to be more successful. These students have higher attendance, better concentration in class, as well as higher test scores. With participation and teamwork (along with dedication), both high schools and colleges are able to have an increase in graduate numbers.
